Our immediate goal was to get our show done in time to enter it into the LA Webfest and Hollyweb Fest in Los Angeles. Beyond that, we had a website and a YouTube channel. We applied for IPF money (which we didn’t get) and through that I signed up for a Digital Marketing Seminar. Three days of so much information, so much unfamiliar information – I had only just signed up for Facebook for my own business – at the end of each day, I didn’t know if I should be exhilarated by the possibilities or melt into a puddle of tears by the insane amount of work ahead. We continued to research online marketing best practices and how to find your target audience. It’s a never ending education, and the players and rules change constantly, and frankly, for me, everyday is rather overwhelming.
But now we knew we needed to be on Facebook and Twitter at the very least. We knew we had to build our audience and keep them engaged and thought we would use the festivals as a jumping off point. So off to LA we went.
